Debra Spark, short story writer and novelist. Author of numerous short stories in magazines including ESQUIRE, AGNI,THE NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW, AND PLOUGHSHARES. Her first novel COCONUTS FOR THE SAINT (Faber & Faber) won the 1995 PLOUGHSHARES AWARD. A second novel, THE GHOST OF BRIDGETOWN, was a finalist for the 2002 Binghamton University/John Gardner Award. Her reviews and articles have appeared in THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, THE WASHINGTON POST, YANKEE, and FOOD AND WINE, among others. Ms. Spark has also edited a collection of contemporary short stories, TWENTY UNDER THIRTY. She teaches in the graduate program at Warren Wilson. Current director of the program.
