Cyclocross Results 2005

Callie McDowell ('06) finished up her Cyclocross season with strong finishes in the Collegiate Women's race for Colby and the Women's B race for Bikeman.com, placing 17th and 20th respectively. Congratulations to Callie, who is now ranked 1st in New England for Division II Cyclocross and 3rd overall in New England. As a result, Colby College is currently ranked 10th in the nation in Cyclocross for Division II schools and 21st overall. Keep up the good work!

2005/2006 Road Season Outlook

Last spring was an exciting time for the Women's team, with Meg Davis ('07) finishing 10th overall in the Women's B class Eastern Collegiate Circuit, Callie McDowell ('06) finishing 8th, and Alex Jospe ('06) finishing 5th. Lexi Funk ('06) had multiple top 30 finishes as well, and continued to race this summer. These four, with the addition of some talented underclassmen, will lead the way in the Women's A class this coming Spring of 2006. This spring, we are also looking for a really strong team time trial. Callie and Lexi have both been racing consistently this fall, so stay posted for road results this spring!

On the Men's side of things, although we lost Tim Lancaster ('05) and Cary Fridrich ('05), Pat Dean ('07) leads the way with some awesome results from last year. In three separate races, Pat went from 3rd in Men's D to top ten in Men's B. Brandon Smithwood ('06) will perform well after his last year skiing for Colby's division one team, and will hopefully ride fast enough to keep up with his girlfriend. Look for more solid results from Pat this spring, complemented by returning seniors Ben Godwin ('06) and Ry Brooks ('07). Joining us from the underclassmen ranks are talented Byron Meinerth ('09), Matt Briggs ('09), Chris Holcombe ('07), Bill Whitledge ('08), and many others! Look for the strongest Colby Cycling results ever seen before this Spring, as a talented group of students rock the roads!
