Current Research

My research explores how bookmaking technology and rhetorical formulations of authority contribute to the notions of authorship that we perceive in medieval literary works. In my current book project, Authority and Authorship in the Works of Juan Manuel, I study these notions of authorship in Juan Manuel's corpus, analyzing how social, religious, and linguistic identity all play a role in the creation of book and text.
