Areas of Expertise

  • American Indian literature, especially American Indian drama

Professional Information

Pat Onion, who has been teaching American Indian literature at Colby for about a decade, has written on contemporary authors Sherman Alexie and Louise Erdrich and designed a program on American Indian Literature for the Maine Humanities Council. Spending much of her fall 2003 sabbatical on the Blackfeet Reservation inspired the redesigning of the program "Crossing Over."

Blackfeet Warriors

Volunteering and working in the community on the reservation nuanced my work in literature.
