Energy Star Purchasing Tips:

When purchasing electronic appliances and accessories for holiday gifts or just for personal use, be sure to check for the most energy efficient models. For more details about the information below, go to www.energystar.gov, the source of these statistics.

Computing:
Monitors - Energy Star monitors save up to 90% more than standard monitors
Printers & Scanners - Energy Star printers, scanners and monitors undergo less wear and tear because they power down to "sleep" mode during periods of inactivity.

Entertainment:
TV - Energy Star TVs save 24% more power than standard models.
DVD - Energy Star DVD players use half the electricity of conventional models.
Stereos - Using Energy Star audio equipment will use 70% less power than standard equipment.

Phones, Lamps & Refrigerators:
Phones - Energy Star phones save 30% of power used in standard phones.
Did you know? - If all cordless phones and answering machines sold in the US over the next decade were Energy Star, US consumers would save over $4 billion on energy bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of more than 570,000 cars.
Lamps - 90% of the energy generated by standard light bulbs is wasted as heat. Energy Star light bulbs and fixtures use 75% less electricity than conventional models.
Compact Refrigerators - Energy Star qualified compact fridges use 20% less energy than standard models.
Did you know? - If every home office were powered by Energy Star equipment, the change would keep more than 219 billion pounds of greenhouse gases out of the air.
