Recycling and Composting Tips:
Dining Halls
- Take only what you can eat. Food wastes are composted by dining services, however, no waste is even better.
- Opt for reusable cups & utensils whenever possible.
- When finished with your meal be sure to remove plastic utensils, napkins, and condiment packaging from your tray; they do not readily compost.
Dormitories
- Recycle everything you can.
- When moving out of your room, put reusable items in Colby RESCUE
boxes.
- Buy room supplies in the fall at the annual RESCUE sale.
Academics
- Buy recycled paper. Look for chlorine-free paper.
- Ask professors if they will accept duplex printing or electronic submission of assignments.
- Do not do unnecessary printing
- Edit on-screen.
Free Time
- Volunteer for RESCUE.
- Work with campus organizations and committees to promote recycling and other environmental efforts.
- Look for employment opportunities in recycling.
- Submit new ideas to the EAG.
