Goals

  •  We will seek ways to reduce quantities of purchases.
  •  We will purchase supplies, materials, and equipment with attention to their sustainability qualities to the extent practical, taking advantage of new opportunities when they present themselves.
  •  We will favor suppliers that practice greening principles in their own operations.

    Practices and Accomplishments

  •  Whenever possible, Dining Services utilizes foods that are packaged in bulk (such as cream, butter, jelly, peanut butter, cereal, milk, juice and soda), reducing the amount of packaging used and the amount of refuse generated.
  •  Printer and copier paper is centrally purchased for use in Colby-owned equipment. After research and trials, an 80% recycled paper was selected to be used campus-wide. This paper is also certified processed chlorine-free by the Chlorine Free Products Association.
