Goals

  •  We will encourage less dependence on vehicles where feasible.
  •  We will work to reduce the impact of vehicles on the environment.
  •  We will prefer environmentally friendly equipment both in terms of energy use and emission production.
  •  We will manage vehicles and motorized equipment on campus with sustainability in mind.

    Practices and Accomplishments

  •  A Driving "Personal Action Guide" has been created.
  •  Colby Electricians now use an electric-powered Club Car Carryall 6 for transit around campus. By replacing a Chevy Astro Van, this vehicle saves 11 tons of Carbon Dioxide a year and over $1300 in annual fuel costs without a significant sacrifice in usability or cargo capacity of the previous van.
