Director of Human Resources Department: Human Services Date: 03/16/06
Colby College seeks nominations and applications for the position of Director of Human Resources. The director will provide overall leadership to the College's human resources function, including: staff recruitment and retention; wage, salary and benefits administration; facilitation of performance management, employee training and development; and oversight of occupational safety and health programs. Reporting to the Vice President for Administration and a key member of the College's administrative management team, the director will provide a clear vision and human resource management strategy that are consistent with Colby's mission and values. S/he will serve as an internal consultant on organizational effectiveness; work closely with department heads and supervisors in developing, communicating, and administering College policies and procedures; and be an active leader in developing programs to foster a diverse and inclusive community. The director plays an important role as an advocate for employee needs and concerns and represents employees in the broader campus community. The director must be able to work collaboratively, demonstrate strong managerial skills, and contribute at both the strategic and operational levels. The successful candidate will: hold a Baccalaureate degree, ideally in the liberal arts, with an M.B.A. strongly preferred; have ten years progressively responsible human resource experience; possess expertise in at least one human resource discipline; demonstrate excellent management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals; and have strong analytical and presentation skills.
