Web Server Administrator

The Information Technology Services department is seeking a highly talented individual who will be responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of components used in Colby's web environment. Duties will include the installation and configuration of the web servers, web software such as PHP and ColdFusion and system administration for Colby's content management system as well as the integration of other information resources into Colby's web environment (eg, databases, authentication systems, vendor-supplied solutions). The Web server administrator will work with Colby's Web Technology Specialist to identify web technology needs and implement solutions in Colby's web environment. Additionally, the Web Server Administrator will work with the Senior Unix Systems Administrator to help support our Unix server environment.

Qualifications for this position include demonstrated knowledge and skills in the configuration and integration of Apache, Coldfusion configuration, J2EE server setup and integration with Apache; a working knowledge of database systems and UNIX. Experience in JRun, SQL Server 2000, Informix, PostgresSQL, jvm monitoring and tuning, Solaris and HP-UX, installing and configuring Apache modules (mod_perl, PHP, fastcgi, authentication), as well as experience in content management system, especially CommonSpot, and developing apache modules (C and mod_perl) is preferred.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly at appropriate levels of technical detail, work as part of a team and independently, and demonstrate project leadership and management skills. Interest in and dedication to the goals of higher education are expected, as is an earned College degree.
