EcoLogic Education Internship (Summer)


EcoLogic's internship and volunteer program offers students and community members the opportunity to strengthen their professional skills and contribute to the conservation of our planet's biodiversity.


Education Internship (Summer)
The intern will work with EcoLogic’s Communications Officer and the Development team on an education and fundraising program for elementary and high school students.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Education Intern will develop introductory and promotional materials for educational programs that reflect EcoLogic’s mission and fit into selected elementary school syllabi; design a webpage for EcoLogic’s website that provides information on our programs; work with the Development and Communications teams to identify potential schools for implementation; and complete other miscellaneous communications tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
    * Enrollment in or completion of undergraduate degree program.
    * Experienced in education and outreach with schools.
    * Familiarity with curriculum development and professional development for teachers.
    * Organized, flexible, creative, and self-motivated.
    * Ability to collaborate with a diverse staff team.
    * Familiarity with non-profit organizations a plus.
    * Spanish proficiency a plus.


Job Location: Cambridge, MA
Compensation: Not paid
Hours: flexible, minimum 15 hours per week, to be worked out with supervisor
Duration: minimum 3 months
Start Date: May or June 2009


Outreach Internship (Summer)
The intern will work with EcoLogic’s Communications Officer and the Development team to build a network of university students and student groups who support EcoLogic’s mission.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Outreach Intern will identify local university student groups who may be interested in supporting EcoLogic; contact university student groups to form a coalition of groups that support our work; develop a website that offers university students and student groups information on EcoLogic and opportunities to get involved; promote our Student Ambassador program through social networking sites; plan an event that unites these groups and garners support for EcoLogic activities; and complete other miscellaneous communications tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:
    * Enrollment in or completion of undergraduate degree program.
    * Experienced with organizing and event planning.
    * Familiarity with university student organizations, preferably in the Boston area.
    * Knowledge of social networking sites, like facebook, MySpace, YouTube and flikr.
    * Organized, flexible, and self-motivated.
    * Ability to collaborate with a diverse staff team.
    * Familiarity with non-profit organizations a plus.
    * Experience with web design a plus.

Public Relations Internship (Summer)
The intern will work with EcoLogic’s Communications Officer to write articles for EcoLogic publications and our website. This is an excellent opportunity for a marketing, journalism or media relations student, or just someone who is passionate about writing.

Duties and Responsibilites: The Public Relations Intern will gather updated information from Spanish-speaking program staff; write articles for our monthly eNews, print newsletter, and for our website; compose in-depth project summaries and case study briefs; assist the Communications Officer with the design, production and dissemination of promotional materials for use at conferences and events; support communications activities at local fundraising events; and other miscellaneous communications tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:
    * Enrollment in or completion of undergraduate degree program.
    * Previous experience in marketing, journalism or outreach required.
    * Proficiency in Spanish required.
    * Adept with Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Publisher.
    * Excellent writing and design skills.
    * Organized, flexible, and self-motivated.
    * Ability to collaborate with a diverse staff team.
    * Spanish proficiency strongly preferred.
    * Familiarity with non-profit organizations a plus.
    * Familiarity with web design a plus.

Online Communications Internship (Summer)
The intern will work with EcoLogic’s Communications Officer to improve and expand our online presence by updating our website, creating and managing an EcoLogic page on social networking sites, and revising our information on various fundraising websites.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Online Communications Intern will revise existing content and create new materials for EcoLogic’s website (www.ecologic.org); work with the Communications Officer to build and enhance the organization’s online presence through social networking websites (e.g. MySpace, Facebook, change.org and YouTube); work with communications and development staff to update information provided on online donation sites; investigate new opportunities to expand EcoLogic’s online presence; and complete other miscellaneous communications tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:
    * Enrollment in or completion of undergraduate degree program.
    * Previous experience in web page design and maintenance.
    * Knowledgeable of online social networking sites.
    * Adept with Internet research.
    * Excellent design skills.
    * Organized, flexible, and self-motivated.
    * Ability to collaborate with a diverse staff team.
    * Experience with graphic design and proficiency with Adobe Photoshop preferred.
    * Familiarity with non-profit organizations a plus.
    * Spanish proficiency a plus.
