Solar Energy Industries Association Interns

Organization Description: SEIA is the national trade association of solar energy manufacturers, project developers, distributors, contractors, installers, architects, consultants and financiers. Established in 1974, SEIA works to make solar energy a mainstream and significant energy
source by expanding markets, strengthening the industry, and educating the public on the benefits of solar energy. SEIA employs 14 full-time staff.

Internship Description: SEIA is looking for 2 communications/research interns for Spring 2009 and Summer 2009. Ideal candidates will be available at least 15 hours per week, demonstrate
an interest in energy and environmental policy, and possess strong writing skills. Candidates should also keep up with current events, and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Computer literacy (online research, familiarity with Word, Excel, etc.) is expected. Skill with HTML and web based applications is a plus.
Interns at SEIA will have the opportunity to be a part of a prominent national trade association and participate in federal advocacy efforts on behalf of the solar energy industry. Interns will be involved in all aspects of SEIA-fs PR and communications efforts including maintaining and expanding our press list, updating web content, drafting material for member and press
communications, gathering industry data and researching topics.

Experiences Offered:
- Specific project experience in public relations and communications
- Exposure to legislative, regulatory, economic, and policy research areas
- Attend industry meetings and make contacts
- Learn about various duties, skill sets in corporate communications and media relations
- Become familiar with trade association functions and structure

Academic Majors: Undergraduate students in mass media, communications, journalism, English, political science, government, economics, environmental studies, or other related field.

Compensation: A transportation stipend is available. Supervisor will provide written evaluation and summary of work experience.
