Goals:
- Educate students
and faculty about what actions are possible on college campuses.
- Make broad ideas
about campus sustainability more specific and seem more attainable.
- Provide for cross-campus
comparisons.
- Link colleges who
have been involved in specific initiatives with those dedicated to pursuing
the same initiatives.
- Create momentum for
further action after the summit has ended.
- Help each team generate
new ideas about what actions are possible on college campuses and concrete
methods for achieving their sustainability goals.
Saturday Afternoon
Anticipated Outcomes:
- Communication among
schools will be established so that teams have contacts who can help guide
them towards their sustainability goals.
- Record the best practices
of each school into a dissemination piece that can serve as a reference
for future action.
- Provide participants
with new ideas for overcoming roadblocks/challenges to initiatives on
campus greening.

- Inform participants
of the important role that dining services can play in campus sustainability
and energy conservation, and to inspire action at other institutions
- Network and discussion
of common interests and best practices
- Facilitate conversation
among schools regarding what makes a dining hall environmentally friendly

Goals:
- Motivate, inspire,
and energize the group for the activist workshop Sunday morning
- Provide continuity
between the morning and afternoon sessions focused on climate change and
campus sustainability issues

- Have each team set
concrete and specific goals
- Provide a time for
others to respond to the goals that they hear
- Bring together the
goals of each team and commit them to working together in the future
Goals of the Student
Workshop:
- Inform students how
to broadly implement their goals
- Learn the best methods
of making other students aware of environmental problems and encouraging
them to take preventative action
- Learn how to make
significant changes on their campuses while working within the administrative
structure

- Learn how significant
greening changes were made at Colby while working within the administrative
structure
- Learn about Colbys
Environmental Advisory Group and its activities
- Tour the new construction
project seeking LEED certification

for their home institutions

and how to facilitate communications among important parties
