This June, Best released its Greenest Colleges ranking and Colby finished third overall and first among NESCAC institutions. The rankings are based on the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking and Assessment Rating System (STARS) scores and the strength of the College’s Environmental Studies Program.

Colby recently updated its STARS submission to account for recent sustainability-related achievements including the completion of the biomass heating plant, the establishment of its Office of Sustainability, and carbon neutrality announcement. More information on the STARS rating system and Colby’s process can be found here.

This recognition affirms and reflects Colby’s commitment and effort to institutionalize sustainability and environmental education. For more information and review the rankings, visit Best Colleges’ website here.
