Environmental Policy, Class of 2015

IMG_3435My interest in the environment all kind of started when I went on an Outward Bound trip the summer before my senior year of high school. The trip really made me appreciate the simple things life has to offer. Then when I transferred from Holy Cross to Colby and saw that Colby had a well-established Environmental Studies program, I just went with it and I could not be happier.  I am heading to Belize with Russ and Bruce over Janplan! I am very excited for the opportunity. Over the summer of 2014 I worked for the Maria Mitchell Association on Nantucket Island as an environmental educator. I learned an incredible amount about the ecosystems of Nantucket and education during my experience. I also had the opportunity to work at the association’s natural science museum and aquarium on the island as well. These unique and diverse experiences helped further build upon the coursework I had already completed at Colby. The professors and other faculty are really a strength of the ES program. I always joke that whenever I have a problem, I email Russ. The man will bend over backwards for his students, as will all ES professors. I think the fact that we call all our ES professors by their first name also says something.
