"The Winter's Tale"

By William Shakespeare, Directed by Richard Sewell

An insanely jealous man wreaks havoc on his whole family. Then time, nature, and a cluster of extraordinary women heal the wounds and restore the ravaged world. Shakespeare in one of his final plays condenses tragedy and high comedy into one glowing wonder-play.
The production is set in an abandoned botanical conservatory where a modern acting troupe rehearses; it focuses on the nature of destruction, survival, and triumphant rebirth. The cast of 18 is led by four Colby seniors–Monty Hobson as the rash Leontes; Kristin Elder as his generous wife, Hermione; Jory Raphael as the rapscallion Autolycus; and Rebecca Sharp as loyal Paulina. The story's varied characters include two non-humans, Time (Nandini Naik) and Bear (Jordan Finley).
General admission is $3; students and seniorrs are $2. The play runs approximatly 2 and a half hours, for teens and adults.
