Title: Population Growth, High Energy Prices, Climate Change and the Challenge of Feeding Nine Billion

Evan Fraser, Department of Geography, University of Guelph

April 10th 7 pm
Parker Reed Room, Schair Swenson Watson Alumni Center

Most commentators agree that population growth, energy prices, and climate change threaten food security. But few agree on the best strategies to tackle this problem with some promoting “high tech” solutions such as genetically modified crops while others suggest that the solution may be found in small scale local farming systems. In this talk, Dr. Evan Fraser will draw on his experiences from around the world to shed light on strategies and options for how to sustainably feed nine billion people.
