longtime member of the English Department, reads from her work

and joins in a conversation about writing, identity, and invention.

Topics include her work at the New York Times; her roles on

Caitlyn Jenner's reality program and the Amazon series

Transparent; her LGBT advocacy work as chair of the board of

GLAAD; and her work as a widely published author. The readings

will include excerpts from her memoir, She's Not There, her essays

for the Times, and her new novel, the literary thriller Long Black
