Diamond / 153 Classroom

A double feature screening of two films that focus on two of the women whose leadership during the Civil Rights Movement changed America. Because of the prominence of leaders who were male clergy, the roles of women and their activities are too often overlooked. These two women, coming from quite different class backgrounds, not only challenge us to place women in the foreground as we seek to understand the process of social change but also to recognize the diversity and complexity of those who were active in the Civil Rights Movement.
