Allyson Eller will give a talk on how plants and atmospheric chemistry influence each other. Specifically, she will discuss the rising atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and ozone and how these changes have the potential to profoundly affect the performance of plants. Volatile organic compounds that are emitted by plants participate in the chemistry that produces ozone, creating the potential for feedbacks between plant behavior and atmospheric chemistry.
