Artie Greenspan
founded Colby's first junior year abroad
program in Caen, and has led more than a dozen groups to France,
most of them for an entire academic year. At Colby, he has taught
the entire range of courses from beginning and intermediate language
courses, to conversation, advanced grammar, senior-level stylistics,
and seminars on Camus, Sartre, Experiments in Fiction, Representations
of History, and France in the Second World War. He has served
as visiting professor at the Université of Caen, where
he has taught American literature, American civilization, and
English grammar and translation. Professor Greenspan has published
on populist literature, film and translation. He has also translated
numerous books and articles, both from French to English and
from English to French. He is currently working on the French
cinema of idea and an English-French dictionary of idiomatic
expression.
