Miller houses the humanities and social sciences collections, the College archives, Special Collections, and the library's administrative and technical staff.

Reference- Reference materials located in Miller Library include encyclopedias, dictionaries, bibliographies, directories, maps, reviews, and statistics.

Government Documents- Miller Library has been a selective depository for United States government official documents since 1880 and has an extensive collection from the Continental Congress to date.

Audio and Video Collections- Recordings relating to the College's courses in the social sciences and humanities are located here.

Special Collections- Contained in the collection are first editions, manuscripts, and letters of noted literary figures, especially authors of the Irish Literary Renaissance and writers related to New England. Other authors represented in the collection include A.E. Housman, Sarah Orne Jewett, Kenneth Roberts, Henry James, Willa Cather, John Masefield, William Dean Howells, and Thomas Mann. Also housed in Special Collections are archives and records pertaining to Colby's history, alumni, faculty, and staff dating from 1813, the Thomas Hardy Collection, as well as extensive literature and artifacts from World War I. Special Collections is open to public use from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by appointment at 207-872-3284 or speccoll@colby.edu.

The College's collection of books, periodicals, videos, multimedia, art slides, music scores, and recordings are housed in the library of the Bixler Art and Music Center.

Science Library

The F.W. Olin Science Building's library houses scientific microforms, videos, maps, CD-ROMs, and more than 350 science periodicals.

General Information
The Colby libraries, as members of both the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin Consortium of libraries and Maine Info Net, offer access to a merged catalogue of more than 10 million items from public and private libraries throughout Maine.

Pre-arranged tours for school groups are available at any of the three libraries.
