Colby Volunteer Center More at www.colby.edu/cvc The Colby Volunteer Center provides opportunities for each member of the Colby community to have a positive influence on the lives of others through volunteerism in the greater Waterville area. The CVC aims to increase awareness of the importance of volunteer work as a social responsibility. The CVC coordinates volunteering opportunities with the following local organizations: Colby Cares About Kids, Adults Reading to Children, Best Buddies, Waterville Boys & Girls Club, Colby Companions (Big Brothers Big Sisters of America), Dayspring AIDS, Evening Sandwich Program, Family Violence Project, Head Start, Maine Children's Home, Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter, Waterville Junior High Tutoring, New Growth Sexual Violence & Support Center, Paw Pals (the Waterville Humane Society), Rotoract, Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen, Sunset Nursing Home, and Waterville Social Club. Each year the CVC organizes Colby Cares Day, a day in which students participate in a variety of community service projects in the Waterville area. The CVC organizes individual tutoring for local students and coordinates student teaching positions for Colby students in local schools.
