Colby Volunteer Center
More at www.colby.edu/cvc

The Colby Volunteer Center provides opportunities for each member of the Colby community to have a positive influence on the lives of others through volunteerism in the greater Waterville area. The CVC aims to increase awareness of the importance of volunteer work as a social responsibility.

The CVC coordinates volunteering opportunities with the following local organizations: Colby Cares About Kids, Adults Reading to Children, Best Buddies, Waterville Boys & Girls Club, Colby Companions (Big Brothers Big Sisters of America), Dayspring AIDS, Evening Sandwich Program, Family Violence Project, Head Start, Maine Children's Home, Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter, Waterville Junior High Tutoring, New Growth Sexual Violence & Support Center, Paw Pals (the Waterville Humane Society), Rotoract, Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen, Sunset Nursing Home, and Waterville Social Club.

Each year the CVC organizes Colby Cares Day, a day in which students participate in a variety of community service projects in the Waterville area.

The CVC organizes individual tutoring for local students and coordinates student teaching positions for Colby students in local schools.

To contact the Colby Volunteer Center about current programs or to request information on other programs, call 207-872-3442 or send e-mail to cvc@colby.edu.
