This 2-hour session will explore the origins of hate (viewing segments from the film “Anatomy of Hate”) to fully understand the sociological and psychological basis for how humans can go from a natural state of fear to blatant hatred and violence.

We will actively discuss ways to interrupt seemingly small acts of prejudice and discrimination that are the breeding ground for hatred and violence, while creating a space for open dialogue and hope for the future.

Facilitated by:

Joe Atkins, Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology; Coordinator of Multicultural Student Programs and Support

Melissa Breger, Assistant Director for Talent Development

Important Message from the Facilitators: “Anatomy of Hate” is a very graphic documentary.  The subject matter and video may be distressing to some participants.
