A: Windows users: hit Control-alt-delete and choose Lock Workstation. Mac users on OS 8 or 9 : use the Blackwatch screen saver, configured to low energy use.
Mac OS X users : lock the screen with a password by setting the option in the System Preferences | Screen Saver | Activation | "use my user account password."
