Computer Support Resources: Manufacturers' Contact Info

These are the three computer vendors that were recommended at Colby during the past 3 years [Compaq was recommended for only one year 1998-1999] and their toll-free support phone numbers, web support pages and warranty policies. Students and other computer owners will need to have this information when they first call that number: the model, serial number, and date and location of purchase. The manufacturer typically requires that people register for support, demonstrating that they are eligible for that support. In addition, the manufacturer expects the owner to search the web support pages for frequently reported issues and solutions as a regular procedure before calling. Please get familiar with your vendor's support policies.

ITS and SCS are not allowed to initiate any activity that would void your warranty.

APPLE: call the Education number at 1-800-800-2775 or call AppleCare at (1-800-275-2273), seven days a week (9:00 am to 9:00 pm ESTs).

If the hardware problem is eligible for Onsite Service ,Apple will send a box with RMA tag and all necessary instructions. If you have any questions or need more details, contact Paula Lemar(palemar@colby.edu.x3607).

AppleCare Support Line (ASL) provides telephone support for $49 USD on a per-incident basis for Apple-branded consumer software after the 90 days of complimentary telephone support expires. It also provides telephone support on a per-incident basis for Apple hardware and peripherals after the Apple One-Year Limited Warranty expires. Read details-- especially the My Info section--
