HFS
Recover is a means of last resort for recovering corrupted
files from a hard drive or floppy disk. It's for older systems-
pre PowerPC.Limited support |

Utilities 5 folder:

Norton
Disk Doctor scans hard drives for problems and repairs them
when possible.
Speed Disk optimizes disk performance by moving files
into contiguous sectors. Should be used with great care!
System Info creates a detailed report on a system's hardware
and software.
Unerase can recover files that have been deleted.
Volume Recover recovers crashed hard disks.
Wipe Info erases files so they cannot be recovered.
Limited support-these tools should generally be used only by
support technicians. |

Most
items in this folder are for older systems- especially MacTCP.
Files in this folder would typically be run, if needed, by or
on the advice of a support technician - they are typically not
needed by normal end users. |

in your browser informing you where to go to get it!

98 Install(folder) |
The
Office 98 complete suite is installed by copying the Office
98 folder inside this folder onto your hard drive.INSTALLING
OFFICE 98 DOES NOT GIVE YOU A LICENSE TO UPGRADE TO OFFICE
2001 or OFFICE X- Colby has separate license agreements for
these products.
Please
contact the appropriate Help Desk(x3666-students, x3888-faculty/staff)
for information about acquiring any version of Office later
than 98.

Opens PDF files.
Corporate Time: group calendaring.
Dave: makes Macs visible to Windows machines for file

Digital Camera Software: NikonView and Quicktake.
Fonts for Colby : Garamond, Goudy,Norwich US, Russian,
San Francisco, Smolensk, St. Petersburg.
Freeware Utilities:
ATM
Light: smooths onscreen font rendering
Burn: deletes files without a trace
Compression: Stuffit Expander, uuUndo
DropPS: a utility to send text files containing PostScript™code
to any PostScript printer connected to an AppleTalk™
network.
PopChar: a control panels that lets you generate
every possible character in the current font without knowing
keyboard combos.
ScreenSaver: Blackwatch. Replaces Darkside.
SCSI Probe: scans for SCSI devices.
Hypercard
Color Tools: a Hypercard stack that lets you colorize
other stacks.(If you use Hypercard, you know what this means.
If you don't, you don't need this!)
