Windows XP:

  • Click on Start and then Run
  • Type \\fileserver1 and then hit Enter
  • If prompted for a name and password, then for the name faculty should use their Colby username and students should use colby\username. The password would be the user's Colby password.
  • Once you are on fileserver1, open Software | Software Library | Windows Client.
  • Open K2Client.exe
  • For Host DNS Name type keyserver.license.colby.eduand for Protocol select TCP/IP.
  • Then click on Next twice, then click on Install and finally click Finish.
  • Once finished installing the keyserver client, you will need to restart your computer.
  • Now you can use the software available on fileserver1. You can access them by following steps 1-3 and then going to Software | Software Library | Windows Software. Some application folders have a READ FIRST Folder. Open the folder and read the Read Me File so the program will work correctly.

    Macintosh OSX:

  • Click on Go and then select Connect to Server.
  • For the Server Address type smb://fileserver1 and then click on Connect.
  • Type colby for the Workgroup/Domain, and enter your Colby username and password and click Ok.
  • Select Software from the drop down list and click Ok.
  • Open Software Library | Mac Client.
  • Open K2Client.sea
  • For the DNS Name type keyserver.license.colby.edu and click Ok.
  • Once it prompts you to reboot the computer, click Ok and then restart your computer.
  • Now you can use the software available on fileserver1. You can access them by following steps 1-4 and then going to Software | Software Library | Mac Software. Some application folders have a READ FIRST Folder. Open the folder and read the Read Me File so the program will work correctly.
