Stop! If you currently have another Anti Virus Application on your computer such as Norton Anti Virus, McAfee or etc, please remove the application before installing Sophos. Anti virus applications conflict with each other and cause problems for your hard drive.

Sophos is installed on all Colby owned computers (those with the silver/blue "CCID" code sticker) and is available for all Colby student, faculty and staff personal machines with a current Colby password.

Since new viruses are written all the time, Sophos' files have to be updated regularly. On Colby-owned Windows computers, Sophos gets updated automatically on each restart. Mac users must connect to the General Server for updates. (Just connect- Sophos will do the rest.)

If you get an error message as soon as you connect to the General Server telling you to contact the "system administrator", notify Rurik Spence - rlspence or leave a message at x4210).
