Colby Telecom Meridian Voice Mail

Many at Colby have a voice mailbox within the college's phone system. Generally, student voice mailboxes are tied to residential room phones with one mailbox per room, while faculty and staff generally have individual mailboxes. With this system, calls are diverted to voice mail when the line is busy or if the phone is not answered within four rings. Students know when they have messages by hearing a "stutter" dial tone. Most college owned phones show a red flashing light indicating messages. Messages that are heard but not deleted are removed automatically after midnight. Messages not retrieved keep builing up consuming valuable memory space so mailboxes that are not frequently cleared are deactivated.
