Use of library intranet
Group decided to continue using the intranet to post TWG minutes and announcements. To promote staff use of the intranet TWG will host another snacks/conversation session on Thursday 5-25-00, 9-10 am. Computer will be hooked up in break room so that access to the intranet can be demonstrated.
Excel and Powerpoint
Janey has had only 2 responses so far to her email query. Group decides sessions should be arranged for those interested. Janey will work with Wendy/ITS to schedule Excel (target: May or June) and Powerpoint (target: September in Davis classroom). For Powerpoint session at Miller, staff will be urged to first attend Wendy’s intro session, as preparation.
Emergency preparedness
Pat will arrange a hands-on session that focuses on water damage (eg how to wrap wet books). Target: a 2-hour session, either Thurs or fri afternoon, possibly in June. Pat will wait until Excel session is scheduled in order to avoid date conflict.
File transfer
Larry and Bob will meet 5-5-00 at 9:30 am to explore new III/transfer feature, discuss what a workshop on this topic would comprise.
Operating system
NT training session to be scheduled Fall 00.
Cataloger’s desktop
Mike will continue to explore possibility of a CBB training session on this topic, maybe during the summer.
CBB training sessions
Group discussed ways joint CBB training sessions could be accomplished, since we deal with topics of interest to our colleagues at Bates and Bowdoin. Mike will ask Sharon/Bates and Carl/Bowdoin if groups similar to our TWG exist at their libraries, which could help arrange such CBB ventures.
