Meeting called to order at 9:10 am. The minutes from last meeting were approved by e-mail and posted to the Intranet. This is the on going procedure
Old Business
Intranet -- Larry announced his addition of a wepage explaining Mac error codes. Larry will advertise this in a library wide e-mail. Bob showed a page of links he put together. These links include local but non-Colby training opportunities, for example UMA, and KVTech. Also, there are links to Apple, Microsoft, and III websites.
Excel -- the videos and Wendy's rescheduled session is on hold until the fall when the need will be reassessed. This is because so many people are away for the summer. Also consensus was that people's initial needs had been met -- plus with the videos, Quick Start books on reserve, and skilled users in the library, that self-education could occur.
New Business:
Pat mentioned that she had contacted Personnel about their series of management seminars. She too had been told that these were not meant for support staff. However, Richard Nale did point out that the materials are available -- also that he would consider presenting these in other contexts.
The Training Workgroup agreed to schedule trainings based on this resource -- the first in August, and to be focused on Supervision, Coaching Skills, and Discipline Skills to prepare for the return of our student workforce. The second section, on Customer Service and motivating employees. The Third to focus on communication skills, particularly conflict in the work place, and giving and receiving feedback. We thought it a good idea to get Richard Nale to do the first session. We also talked about having our own staff do some of these trainings too.
We scheduled a meeting with Suanne June 17 1999 at 10:00am to discuss three issues.
