Formac StudioTVR

Formac Studio allows you to watch and record cable TV on the computer. It is installed on Studio2 in the back room. It will record and save portions of programs in QuickTime (.mov) format.

1)

You can access Formac Studio from the dock of the Mac.

2)

Select the channel from the box in the upper right hand corner.

3)

SelectLive TV, if it is not already selected, to view your program.

4)

You can record by pressing the red R in the control panel or you can schedule it to record at a future time by using the scheduler (the clock icon).

5)

By clicking on a time slot you can set Formac Studio to record at any time in the future. The program will be recorded even if Formac Studio is not running at the time you have set it to record. Just make sure the computer is on.

  • At the bottom of the scheduler, the green box shows that the Studio is set to record at 11PM. You can choose different calendar days by using the calendar at the top left of the scheduler.
  • This window (minus the colorful stars) will pop up when you click on a time slot. You can choose which channel you wish to record from (blue star). Make sure you rename your movie (orange star).

Note: Because of the discrepancy between the time on the computer and time on the TV, it is suggested that you set your start and stop times at least five minutes before and after the desired record time (purple stars).

6)

Formac Studio will save your file under Movies in Finder.

Important: Be aware of how many GB are left on the computer. Remember, 5min = 1GB. You can edit your movie using QuickTime.
