Tomek, this is our poster! Or rather its preliminary version...
Andrei. My suggestions for this poster... I think the image that the book is in focus (my mess-up on the photography) would be the best one to use. I find the "out of focus" book distracting, but would like to hear other opinions on this. Also the white text gets a bit lost, especially on the bottom.- Arleen
Perhaps a dropshadow with the white text would make it pop more, or a light-colored glow on dark-colored text? We can also look at some of our design annuals (Oz Graphix, HOW) for composition ideasMy suggestion for fixing the focus of the cover is to bring in a new cover. You could get it from the publisher's site or from google images. Look for a high resolution cover and then skew and scale and erase so it looks like it's being held. Another issue with this cover is that it's overexposed on top of out of focus. Since the rest of the picture is a bit underexposed, it would make sense to either lighten it or to lower the brightness of the cover. -Mike
This is the new design I came up with. I did my best trying to solve the focus problem by replacing the text with the one from another cover. I think the letters are much better visible now. Also, the color scheme for the background should make the white text on the bottom easier to distinguish... I kept into consideration the fact that these are going to be pretty big posters... And I also don't think the text on the bottom should be larger than the title of the book. But, tell me how you like it and we can improve it :)

Here is the poster i've been working on. I've changed a lot of the original photo. Note the low resolution is because of filesize. Here is what i've got.
-Mike
Mike- We need to see the Colby College Libraries somewhere on this poster. Also, wondering if making the READ text larger would work better. Rather than the book being identified as Ersatz Elevator, the Library thought that it would work better as... and son, Zoli reading from the Lemony Snicket series.
- Arleen

Can we see the finished poster for Millard posted? These are the two versions we have so far for the Reisert poster :)
Thanks! Arleen
-Andrei
Hi Andrei- I like the 2nd poster. The blue border really tightens up the image, and make's the whole poster pop out at you. - Arleen:) :) :) anyone else have something to look at?? :) :) :)
This is my draft for prof. Millones

Cao- The design looks great. I really like the font taken right from the book itself. We need to change the book title, (it is commonly known as Pliny's, The Historie of the World). I checked with Special Collections and they said because the poster is "informal", that would be the best way to identify the book. In regards to Zach's comment about the book page... I would suggest replacing it with the cover title page that has "The Historie..etc etc". that page is nice and crisp and has a nice antique look.- Arleen

I got the Camera from Arleen Mike is going to use the camera for the week end. If anyone who wants to take photos for READ or just want to play around with it, contact me at x6355. -Cao
In Order to use camera raw file in Photoshop. (Degital negative) you must obtain the newest plugin for photoshop CS at Adobe web page. I downloaded the plugin in my laptop and it worked for CS2....
