Carlton D. “Bud” Reed ’53, Dec. 8, 2012, in Woolwich, Maine, at 82. He became the driving force in his family’s construction business, Reed & Reed, serving as president and later as chairman of the board as the firm built bridges throughout Maine. He served in the Maine House and Senate and was president of the Senate in 1965-66. He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Helen “Betty”, and six children, four of them Colby graduates: Thomas ’86, Hopestill Reed Spillane ’78, Susan Reed Parker ’76, and Prudence Reed Kraft ’75 (all married to Colby alumni). He was the grandfather of six Colby alumni and one current student.
