Barbara “BJ” Davis Howard sees Gail Allen Hamblett at the West Hartford (Conn.) Aquatic Center. BJ is a reading volunteer in Hartford public schools and serves on the board of CONCORA (Connecticut Choral Artists). * David Sortor remembers John Ziegler, who died in December. “His difficult last few years did not put a damper on his sense of humor. He will be remembered as a bright light wherever he went.” John Jubinsky, whose daughter lives in Virginia, visited David for a few days. * In August Ann Lowery moved to an independent living facility in Bow, N.H. It’s a convenient locale for her interests: art and singing. Songweavers, a 140-woman a cappella group led by Peggo Horstmann Hodes ’77, is nearby at the Concord Community Music School. Ann has joined OLLI, a nationwide group for those over 50 who are interested in lectures/adventures. * Brian Stompe and his wife, Susan, enjoyed a few beautiful days rafting and fishing on the Klamath River near Oregon. Brian was president of his Sons in Retirement chapter in 2013 and named Big Brother of the Year for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Bay. Susan is active in Novato, Calif., civic affairs and was named Novato Citizen of the Year in January. * Kathy McConaughy Zambello and Hope Palmer Bramhall are co-class agents for this year’s annual fund, so we shall certainly hear from them soon. Kathy saw Chris Layer Larson (visiting her son in Maine) before Thanksgiving. * Janet Nordgren Meryweather spent time at South Seas Club on Captiva Island, Fla., for the 29th year. She expected a visit from Abbott Otto Greene, who was heading to the Keys because he and a friend “have a contract.” Abbott and wife Nancy plan to put their home in Wewa on the market. Janet is a three-cancer survivor; her positive attitude and prayers help keep her going and going, in spite of her husband’s declining health due to cancer. They will return to Maine when weather permits. * Audrey Tanner has lived very happily in coastal Maine (Portland) for the past 30 years since graduate school (UConn for social work). She has enjoyed trips to Nova Scotia, Seattle, Vancouver, and Helsinki, Finland, home of her dad’s family.
