Feb. 13, 2013, in Venice, Fla., at 94. A bombardier in World War II, he won the Silver Star, Purple Heart, and Air Medal. He was appointed postmaster in Skowhegan, Maine, and worked for the postal service in Maine and Pennsylvania, retiring in 1982. He loved fishing in Maine for landlocked salmon. Predeceased by his wife, Shirley, he is survived by three children, including daughter Barbara Dumont-Bene ’70, and three grandchildren.
