Former U.S. Senator Alan K. Simpson will deliver the keynote lecture for the 2013 George J. Mitchell Distinguished International Lecture Series April 10.
The lecture series is sponsored by the Goldfarb Center for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement at Colby. Former U.S. Senator George J. Mitchell will be the special guest for the evening and will provide the lecture’s introductory remarks.
Simpson served as a U.S. Senator from Wyoming from 1979 to 1997. In 2010 he was appointed as co-chair of President Barack Obama’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform with co-chair Erskine Bowles of North Carolina.
The plan is intended as a way to stabilize growing national debt.
