Join Friends of Art
We invite you to become a member of the Museum’s Friends of Art.
Membership in the Friends of Art provides critical support to the Museum’s vibrant exhibitions and educational programs, including noontime art talks, musical performances, and special events held throughout the year. When you become a member of the Friends of Art, you will receive the Museum’s calendar of events and can participate in the College and University Art Museums Reciprocal Program. Museum members also receive a discount on publications and museum merchandise. View a complete list of participating museums.
Become a Volunteer Docent
Each year, the Museum welcomes thousands of visitors—including schoolchildren and adults—who view its significant collections of American art, folk art, and contemporary art, and who attend exhibitions, lectures, and art events sponsored by the Museum.
Volunteer docents provide invaluable support for these services. You don’t have to be an expert in art or art history to be a museum docent! You simply have to enjoy learning and sharing your time and talents with children and adults. Museum docents receive training in art history and art education, and they enjoy privileges including invitations to art openings, social gatherings and field trips, use of the Colby College Libraries, and free auditing of Colby College classes. Most importantly, museum docents have the opportunity to contribute a valuable service to their community.
An intensive one-week training for new docents runs August 22, 2016 through August 27, 2016. To find out more about the program, contact Linde Family Foundation Coordinator of School and Teacher Programs Margaret Aiken, at 207.859.5623 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
