The Colby College Chorale is a large, all-inclusive mixed chorus dedicated to the performance of a wide variety of international choral music – sacred, secular, popular and major masterworks from all over the world, including one performance a year in conjunction with the Colby College Symphony Orchestra. New in 2017-18, the Colby College Chorale will participate in a year-round collaboration the Colby-Kennebec Choral Society for three major concerts.Membership in the Chorale is open to all students at Colby, regardless of class year or major; the most important prerequisite is that you enjoy making music with your peers, and that you are willing to participate in a highly engaging and entertaining environment, resulting in high-quality performances with a dedicated choral community. All interested singers and members of the Colby College community are invited to our annual Choirs @ Colby Fall Kickoff scheduled for Wednesday evening,September 6th, (the first day of classes) at 7:30 PM in Given Auditorium in the Bixler Art and Music building. In the past, Chorale traveled to New York City during spring break to perform Fauré’s Requiem at the Church of St. Francis Xavier, participate in an educational outreach performance with children in the Bronx at the Casita Maria Center for the Arts, and sing for a liturgy service at St. Bart’s Episcopal Church. Chorale members were also given time to take in a Broadway show and explore and enjoy the city. Other past highlights also include workshops with Dr. Joe Miller from Westminster Choir College.
