Timothy Neill Johnson, tenor, has been performing for more than 40 years in many genres and styles, and with many ensembles.  As a soloist and ensemble member, he has sung, toured and recorded with the Roger Wagner Chorale, La Petite Bande, Collegium Vocale, Il Fondimento, the Portland Symphony, the Vermont Symphony, Boston Cecilia, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Le Concert Spirituel, Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra, Los Angeles Opera, Flemish Opera, Apollo’s Fire, the Oratorio Chorale, the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra, as well as many concerts series, festivals and radio broadcasts in the USA and Europe.  Since 2001, Mr. Johnson has been actively performing with lutenist, Dr. Timothy Burris, as the duo, Music’s Quill, focusing on the repertoire of the Renaissance and Baroque.  From 2008, he has been co-director of the Early Music in the Chapel series in the chapel of Saint Luke’s Cathedral in Portland, Maine.

Although his higher studies are classically based, his private studies in Jazz, Blues, Rock and Improvisation are equally developed.  This is exemplified in his most recent CD recordings of the Complete songs of Philip Rosseter with Music’s Quill, and Dr. Richard Nelson’s(UMA) Deep River Blues with the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra.   Tim has been a voice instructor and ensemble director in higher education for nearly 20 years in both classical and jazz/blues/contemporary music programs.
