On Saturday, November 22, at 7:30 p.m. Collegium Musicum, Colby’s early music group, will present a concert titled “Music in Remembrance.” The concert will be held in Lorimer Chapel on the Waterville campus. Part of the 2003-2004 Music at Colby series, the event is open to the public and free of charge.

Collegium Musicum’s concert program will feature Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Mass for the Dead and Johann Sebastian Bach’s motet Jesu, meine Freude. Both are grand works for voices and basso continuo from the late-17th and early-18th centuries that treat the subject of the memorial with both contemplation and joy.

Directed by Eva Linfield, associate professor of music, the Collegium Musicum is a 22-member ensemble of students and one community member that performs music from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque periods.
