“Among the thousands of alumni magazines published by colleges, two are considered leaders in the move to 100-percent-recycled paper: Colby College’s and Denison University’s. Colby College’s Colby Magazine was one of the first alumni magazines to use 100-percent-recycled paper (plus alternative fuels to produce the magazine), and Brian Speer, who spearheaded the move, is seen as a leader in the field. The college has calculated what it saved last year by producing its magazines this way: 1,576 trees, 26 barrels of crude oil, 575,829 gallons of water.”
