At 3 p.m. Sunday, May 31, Colby Applied Music Associate Eric Thomas will conduct the Bangor Symphony Orchestra in a program called Russian Dances. The concert is at the Collins Center for the Arts at the University of Maine, Orono.
At 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, Thomas was interviewed on Maine Public Radio about the concert.
The concert will begin with the Shostakovich Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Trumpet with Phillip Silver on piano and Bill Whitener trumpet. Also on the program are Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Suite No.3, Tchaikovsky’s Suite from Eugene Onegin, Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances, and Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite from 1919.
