To the Class of 2015:

As we make our final preparations for your arrival on campus and the start of orientation next week we are, like you, paying close attention to information about hurricane Irene.

At this point, the most up-to-date forecasts are predicting that Irene will arrive in Maine as a tropical storm sometime during the day on Sunday, and it will have moved out of the region altogether by midday on Monday. As such, we do not currently anticipate making any changes to the arrival and orientation schedules for the Class of 2015. We do understand that some of you may encounter unanticipated travel delays as a result of the storm. If your travel plans are significantly altered by fall-out from Irene, we would ask that you contact the Dean of Students Office (207-859-4250) directly so that we can work with you to make arrangements for your arrival and to ensure that you have all the information you will need to start the year successfully.

We will continue to monitor the situation with hurricane Irene closely and we will make adjustments to the arrival and orientation schedules if necessary. If changes are made we will notify you by email and information will be posted on the Colby website (www.colby.edu).

In the meantime, I wish you well for a safe trip to Waterville and I look forward to seeing you on campus on Tuesday. If you have any questions regarding arrival and orientation please contact the Dean of Students Office or the Office of Campus Life (207-859-4280).

Sincerely,
James S. Terhune
Vice President for Student Affairs
