More than 1,000 alumni, parents, and friends of Colby will return to Waterville for 2011 Family Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 28-30. People from more than 25 states and three foreign countries are registered for events on Colby’s Mayflower Hill campus, where many events are open to the general public, most free of charge.

Saturday features a home football game against rival Bates at 1 p.m. as well as men’s and women’s crew races against Bowdoin and Bates teams at the Colby-Hume Center on Messalonskee Lake in Sidney. A complete list of events online include lectures, concerts, information sessions, a woodsmen’s team demonstration, tours of the Miller Library tower, local food tasting at Barrels Market, theater and dance performances, and Halloween stories by Prof. Jenny Boylan and colleagues in the chapel. Retired men’s basketball coach Dick Whitmore will be honored at the 108th C Club Dinner, where he will be the first person to receive both the C Club Person of the Year award and he Carl Nelson Sports Achievement Award (reservations required for the banquet).
