Representing about one-third of campaign contributions, women are not donating
nearly as much money as men in the 2012 election. Anthony Corrado (government) says that the trend reflects income disparities more than personal interest. “When you look at the fact that the vast majority of contributions of $2,000 or more are coming from the top 1 percent of the population in terms of income, it’s not surprising that men are overrepresented (in Super PAC donations),” he said.
