This weekend, Oct. 5-7, more than 1,000 alumni, parents, and friends of Colby will return to Mayflower Hill for Family Homecoming Weekend 2012. Family Homecoming Weekend offers academic events, athletic games, and performances open to the general public. Most events are free of charge. People from 30 states and three foreign countries are registered for events this year.

Friday features tours of Special Collections in Miller Library, and on Saturday the Colby football team hosts Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Additional events include the unveiling of a restored portrait of Civil War General Benjamin F. Butler, Class of 1838 with a talk by Gibson Professor of History Elizabeth Leonard, Halloween stories by Professor Jennifer Finney Boylan and colleagues in the chapel, and the return of “A New York State of Mind” with Karen Oberlin performing songs from Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, George Gershwin, and others.
