Professor James Fleming (science, technology, and society), a visiting scholar at Columbia University this year, will speak in four countries March 18-25.

In Abu Dhabi March 18 and 19 he will present a paper, “The future of technology and its impact on the environment,” at the 19th annual conference of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research, this year focused on “Technology: Impacts, Challenges and Future.”

On March 21 he will address a joint seminar of the Centre for the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine and the Department of Atmospheric Science at the University of Manchester, England, with a lecture titled “In Transit: From Meteorology to Atmospheric Science, 1900-1960.”

On March 24, in Stockholm, Sweden, he will give a talk of the same title to the Royal Institute of Technology Program in Environmental Humanities and to the Meteorology Institute at Stockholm University, and on March 25 to the Research Group on Health, Welfare and History of Science in Bergen, Norway.
