Meteorologist, author, and educator David Epstein was recently appointed vice chair of the Alumni Council at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. A 1986 graduate of Colby, Epstein has been a member of the Alumni Council since 2006. As vice chair he will assume the position of chair July 1, 2015.

“David has been a long-serving member of the Alumni Council, committed to the Colby community on and off campus,” said Alumni Council Chair Deb Wathen Finn, a member of the Colby Class of 1974 and parent of a member of the Class of 2007. “He’s made really meaningful contributions, leading an effort to maximize student engagement and create a vibrant postgraduate experience for all alumni.”

Epstein is a meteorologist, author, and college instructor. He was on-air at WCVB-TV in Boston, Mass., for 16 years and now freelances for WGME in Portland. He is a gardener and columnist for several newspapers, including the Portland Press Herald and the Boston Globe.

The Alumni Council comprises approximately 35 dedicated alumni who volunteer their time, expertise, and financial support to further the mission of the College. The Alumni Council is responsible for nominating alumni representatives to the Board of Trustees, as well as supporting career services, athletics, and other College programs.
